Plenary Indulgence
A plenary indulgence is the full remission of temporal punishment due to sins that have already been forgiven through the sacrament of confession.
It represents the Church’s application of the merits of Christ, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the saints to aid the faithful in their spiritual journey. Through the indulgence, the Church grants freedom from all remaining effects of sin, allowing the faithful to experience the fullness of God’s mercy.
This gift of grace is intended not only for personal spiritual renewal but can also be applied to the souls in Purgatory as an act of charity, helping them attain eternal life with God.
